Partners at a glance:

Joshua Hellmann Foundation (JHF)

Joshua Hellmann Foundation for Orphan Disease (JHF) was established by Mrs. Christina Strong, in honor of her son, Joshua Hellmann, who passed away at the age of 15 after a five-year battle with MELAS Syndrome, one of the inborn errors of metabolism. Christina turned her profound grief and helpless into a positive force and set up JHF to advance the awareness, treatment and research of orphan diseases, and improve the welfare of children with orphan diseases in Hong Kong. It also provides support for the diagnosis of orphan diseases among children and teenagers.

In July 2013, JHF donated HK$1 million to The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to establish the Centre of Inborn Errors of Metabolism that offers a screening program for IEMs. More than 18,000 babies had been screened via the JHF-Newborn Metabolic Screening Programme since its establishment.

Joshua Hellmann Foundation for Orphan Disease focuses on improving the lives of children with IEMs, by providing support to patients and their families in diagnosis, care services, and treatment information and resources. You can contact JHF (link to JHF website) for more information.
